Frank McGowan retired from FM Approvals in 2000 where he spent 12 years as the manager of the Intrinsic Safety Section. Prior to joining FM Approvals, he was employed as Principal Product Safety Engineer for the Foxboro Company, a manufacturer of process control equipment.
Frank is also immediate past Chairman (1988-2000) of the Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society (ISA) SP12 Committee on standards for electrical equipment for use in hazardous locations. He has served as a member of SP12 since 1975, and continues to contribute today. He has also held the position of United States Technical Advisor to the International Electro technical Commission (IEC) Committee SC31G for Intrinsic Safety. Frank has also served as a member of the National Electric Code Committee, Code Making Panel 14, for hazardous locations, for over twenty years.
Frank is currently employed by The Compliance Management Group (CMG) as the Director of Hazardous Locations Engineering providing deign reviews and consultation for customers who seek hazardous locations certifications.
